Role: The Community Relations Specialist is responsible for assisting with the development and implementation of a comprehensive community outreach strategy for Gulf Winds Credit Union. The position will actively contribute to advancing the Credit Union's Mission by enhancing the effectiveness of the Credit Union's community impact initiatives, partnerships, special events, volunteerism efforts, and financial education. The position will also support the Gulf Winds Foundation through collaborative efforts, accelerating actionable results that advance business objectives and increase membership. At all times, this role will uphold the Gulf Winds core values of Integrity, Care, Growth, and Innovation

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

Plan, coordinate and support community outreach, partnership, sponsorship, and volunteer activities for the Credit Union. Ensure strong execution of all event logistics, including communication, staffing, booth display, event materials, and follow-up. Strategically mobilize volunteers and organize programs to develop mutually beneficial relationships and maximize exposure and goodwill for Gulf Winds. Assist in the coordination, development, and implementation of financial education efforts that engage the community and deepen member relationships. Identify opportunities, facilitate and/or build curriculum, and support ongoing delivery of workshops, webinars, and other events that support financial growth and increase awareness of the Credit Union. Manage and optimize the Credit Union's community relations software to track, report, evaluate, and enhance community engagement activities. Ensure accurate data entry, clear communication, and timely reporting that guides future outreach strategies. Ensure ongoing maintenance of organizational calendar of all activities and events. Provide ideas and assistance to build and enhance Gulf Winds Social Media and Public Relations strategies in collaboration with the Social Media Strategist and Director of Community Engagement. Support the creation of calendars, plans, and initiatives to deliver impact and meet goals. Enhance communication and coordination with Front-line and Sales teams to implement strategies that connect community engagement efforts across regions and engender business development. Think critically and strategically to help instill confidence and facilitate a high level of service. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Performance Measurements:

1. Successfully complete all assigned responsibilities within the designated timeframe with zero unresolved errors according to established department standards.

2. Provide informed, prompt, collaborative, professional, accurate service and support to all members and associates. Maintain high interpersonal skills and the ability to handle sensitive information/documentation with confidentiality.

3. Ensure all communications are accurate, timely, and within budget guidelines. Ensure excellent spelling, grammar, and written communication skills, with great attention to detail in composing, editing, and proofreading materials.

4. Assist in achieving the credit union's objectives with respect to the growth of the Foundation.

5. Maintain and increase relevant knowledge and through professional literature and educational programs that support the Credit Union's Vision, Mission, and Values.

6. Assist the Director of Community Engagement in providing direction and recommendations to leadership based on best practices for community and public relations. Identify and effectively communicate any threats or opportunities surrounding the Credit Union's brand and reputation.

7. Comply with all applicable rules, regulations and policies, including but not limited to BSA, OFAC and Physical Security

Knowledge and Skills:

Experience: Three years to five years of similar or related experience.

Education (1) A bachelor's degree, or (2) achievement of formal certifications recognized in the industry as equivalent to a bachelor's degree (e.g., information technology certifications in lieu of a degree).

Interpersonal Skills Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for the purpose of first-level conflict resolution, building relationships, and soliciting cooperation. Discussions involve a higher degree of confidentiality and discretion, requiring diplomacy and tact in communication.

Other Skills The Community Relations Specialist will be a results-driven communications professional who can prioritize projects and tasks, meet multiple deadlines, and monitor several projects simultaneously. The candidate must be detail-oriented and organized, with excellent writing/editing skills and a community-oriented spirit. The candidate should have experience in public relations and charitable activities and an understanding of philanthropy. The candidate must be able to work independently and as part of a team and perform effectively under pressure while working with Credit Union senior leadership. Ability to read, write, comprehend, and speak English clearly.

Physical Requirements This role requires sitting at a computer for most of the day. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

This position is based in-office in Pensacola, Florida, and operates primarily from an office setting. Consistent presence in the office is required to collaborate with team members and fulfill job responsibilities effectively. The ability to actively participate in conference calls and meetings with other Credit Union team members and vendors is also required.

The normal expected work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:30a.m. to 5:00p.m. After[1]hours work or travel required to attend / lead events and/or meet project deadlines.
