Position Overview
The
Preconstruction Estimator
will support the Preconstruction Director in developing conceptual budgets and detailed cost estimates for public and private commercial and residential projects ranging from $1M-$100M.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare conceptual budgets, GMPs, lump sum, and design-build estimates
Review plans and specifications from schematic design through construction documents
Conduct site visits and identify scope gaps, discrepancies, and scheduling risks
Interface with clients, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and vendors
Develop scopes of work, bid packages, and subcontractor bid lists
Obtain, review, and negotiate subcontractor and vendor pricing
Identify value engineering opportunities
Assist with preconstruction schedules, procurement, and early buyouts Qualifications
Strong knowledge of construction estimating practices and unit pricing
Proficient in quantity takeoffs across multiple trades
Understanding of building systems, codes, contracts, bonding, and insurance
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
