We are seeking an experienced and collaborative Estimator to support commercial construction projects from preconstruction through bid submission. This role is responsible for preparing accurate, detailed cost estimates that account for materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor scopes, while partnering closely with project teams to deliver competitive and profitable proposals.

What You’ll Do

Analyze plans, specifications, proposals, and related documentation to develop comprehensive cost estimates Prepare detailed material takeoffs and labor estimates using person-hours, crew structures, and equipment assumptions Develop and submit complete bid packages aligned with client timelines and project requirements Solicit, evaluate, and level subcontractor and supplier pricing to ensure consistent scope coverage and competitive bids Write and distribute clear scopes of work to ensure all subcontractor proposals encompass the same requirements Track subcontractor bid intentions and follow up as needed Organize and manage bid documents, drawings, and specifications Maintain and update subcontractor and supplier databases on a per-project basis Create bid leveling sheets comparing cost, scope, and schedule to support informed decision-making Prepare RFIs for the design team during preconstruction Manage subcontractor prequalification processes Maintain historical cost data to support pricing strategies and future estimates Identify value engineering and cost-saving opportunities during project planning Collaborate closely with project managers, architects, engineers, and clients during preconstruction, including logistics planning, general conditions, and procurement schedules Attend job walks, pre-bid meetings, and proposal reviews as required Build and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors and vendors to ensure workforce capacity and pricing stability Present estimates and proposals clearly to clients based on their preferences and needs Assess potential project risks and recommend mitigation strategies Ensure estimates align with scope requirements and comply with local, state, and federal building codes

What We’re Looking For

Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field 2–5 years of experience in commercial construction estimating Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Procore, and estimating platforms such as BuildingConnected (or similar) Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and applicable codes Advanced analytical and cost-modeling skills Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications Strong written and verbal communication skills Familiarity with the local subcontractor and supplier market preferred
