Account Manager – Life Sciences Automation

Location:

Greater Philadelphia, Allentown/Reading, Wilmington (DE), Southern New Jersey, Maryland, or Washington, D.C.

Compensation:

Up to $150,000 base salary + guaranteed commission (Year 1); uncapped commission beginning Year 2

Overview An established automation and process control solutions provider is seeking an experienced Account Manager to drive growth within the Life Sciences manufacturing sector. This role is focused on expanding existing accounts, identifying new capital and operational project opportunities, and delivering advanced automation and digital solutions to regulated manufacturing environments.

The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in life sciences process control, automation systems, or manufacturing IT/software—combined with a consultative, revenue-driven mindset.

Responsibilities Account Expansion:

Grow revenue within assigned Life Sciences manufacturing accounts through consultative selling of automation and process control solutions. Opportunity Development:

Identify and pursue CapEx and OpEx initiatives tied to manufacturing modernization, digital transformation, and operational efficiency. Strategic Account Planning:

Develop and execute territory and account plans aligned to client production goals and compliance requirements. Cross-Functional Collaboration:

Partner with internal engineering and technical teams to scope, position, and close complex automation projects. Forecasting & Performance:

Maintain accurate pipeline forecasting and consistently achieve quarterly and annual sales targets. Industry Engagement:

Maintain visibility within the regional Life Sciences ecosystem and cultivate long-term client relationships.

Required Qualifications 5–20 years of relevant industry experience. Minimum 5+ years in Life Sciences process control, automation systems, or manufacturing IT/software environments. Familiarity with bioreactors and GMP-regulated manufacturing operations. Working knowledge of distributed control systems (DCS), PLC platforms, MES, and digital manufacturing technologies. Demonstrated ability to manage complex technical sales cycles within pharmaceutical or biotech manufacturing. Must reside within the designated Mid-Atlantic territory (Philadelphia region, Eastern PA, Delaware, Southern NJ, Maryland, or Washington, D.C.).

Preferred Background Experience with leading automation OEMs, major PLC/DCS platforms, or established systems integrators serving Life Sciences manufacturing. Prior engineering, automation management, or operational leadership experience within a Life Sciences manufacturing environment, coupled with strong business development capabilities. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Automation, or a related technical discipline preferred.
