
The Packaging Tech Level III ensures the efficient and smooth operation of our production machinery and processes. This position requires a high level of technical expertise and hands-on experience in the cannabis industry. This position is responsible for executing various tasks, while adhering to strict compliance regulations and maintaining a safe working environment. The Packaging Tech Level III is expected to lead by example and build a culture of respect and discipline among peers.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Takes ownership of machine operations, including calibration, troubleshooting, and monitoring.
- Lead process improvements by closely working with leadership and suggesting optimizations.
- Provides hands-on-guidance and training to Techs Level I and II.
- Perform quality control and remove defective cannabis products from the production line.
- Maintains a high standard of cleanliness and organization, supporting team efforts to ensure all packaging areas consistently meet compliance standards.
- Supporting Tech II by providing knowledge on label design and compliance and serving as a backup for troubleshooting systems and equipment.
- Participate in resolving operational challenges and escalate when necessary.
- Leads training sessions for Technicians I and II, sharing advanced techniques, conducting skill assessments, and offering personalized coaching to enhance their proficiency in packaging operations.
- Promote a culture of continuous learning, improvement, and safety.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Acts as a technical expert with significant responsibility for machine operation and process improvement.
- Engages in mentoring and training, ensuring a seamless workflow and high product quality.
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical or vocational training is a plus.
- Strong problem solving, synthesizing, and analytical skills.
- Ability to read manuals, blueprints, and handbooks.
- Knowledge of safety methods and hazard regulations.
- 6+ months of machine operations experience required.
- At least 1 year of experience in the cannabis industry, preferred focus on packaging processing techniques.
- Strong understanding of cannabis cultivation, manufacturing, and packaging procedures.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to handle machinery and equipment effectively.
- Detail-oriented with a keen eye for quality control and compliance with regulations.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills to train and coach team members effectively.
- Positive attitude and ability to communicate quickly and efficiently.
- Proficient use of calendar and information sharing apps such as Monday.com, Microsoft Teams, etc.
- Must be at least 21 years of age (as per legal requirements).
- Willingness to work in a fast-paced and physically demanding environment.
- Ability to follow standard operating procedures and safety guidelines.
- Must be able to obtain a state medical marijuana badge and pass a background check.
