Financial Reporting Consultant (Sr. Manager or Director)
Our client, an advanced artificial intelligence research and product company, is seeking a Financial Reporting Consultant to help build and operate a best‑in‑class external reporting function.
The position is hybrid, onsite Monday–Wednesday in San Francisco, CA. This engagement has an expected duration of 6 months.
Responsibilities
Prepare and own GAAP financial statements, footnotes, rollforwards, disclosures, and supporting schedules, including building new reporting materials where no prior templates exist
Perform thorough tie‑outs, internal consistency checks, and quality reviews to ensure reporting is complete, accurate, and audit‑ready
Lead day‑to‑day audit execution, including PBC preparation, auditor Q&A, issue resolution, and proactive identification of gaps before audit review
Collaborate cross‑functionally with Accounting, FP&A, Tax, Legal, and other stakeholders to resolve open questions and gather accurate inputs in a resource‑lean environment
Translate technical accounting conclusions into clear, concise disclosures and leadership‑ready summaries
Identify and implement opportunities to scale reporting processes, standardize templates, and reduce manual work while maintaining high‑quality outputs
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
CPA required, with strong technical accounting expertise
10+ years of progressive experience, including 5+ years in external reporting
Big‑4 public accounting experience strongly preferred
Hands‑on ownership of GAAP financial statements and disclosures within high‑growth or pre‑IPO environments
Strong systems and automation mindset; experience with Workiva and Oracle Fusion (or similar Tier‑1 ERP)
Compensation: Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco by Highspring depends upon a wide array of factors, including but not limited to:

Licensure and certifications;
Office location and other geographic considerations;
Other business and organizational needs.
