
Mercury Electronics is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Purchasing Agent to support daily procurement and supplier coordination activities within a fast-paced contract manufacturing environment. This role ensures timely and accurate purchase order processing, supplier communication, and procurement data management while supporting internal teams and departmental initiatives. The ideal candidate is organized, deadline-driven, and capable of managing multiple priorities with accuracy and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities
Generate and process purchase orders per MRP and planning requirements
Monitor open orders for supplier acknowledgment, delivery status, and on-time performance
Communicate with suppliers on order status, pricing, lead times, and delivery commitments
Source and obtain competitive quotes for new and existing components
Maintain supplier contacts, records, and approved supplier lists
Enter and maintain pricing and quotation data in FilePro ERP
Prepare procurement documentation, spreadsheets, and reports
Maintain purchasing files and records (electronic and physical)
Support cost-savings initiatives, sourcing activities, and departmental projects
Provide purchasing status and updates to Planning, Engineering, Production, and Sales
Qualifications
Strong organization and attention to detail
Ability to prioritize and meet multiple deadlines
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently and within a team
Basic understanding of manufacturing or supply chain concepts
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
Ability to learn ERP systems and processes quickly
Preferred:
ERP or database experience (FilePro or similar)
Familiarity with document management tools (e.g., Adobe Acrobat)
Ability to read bills of materials, schematics, or drawings
