Job Summary
The Sr. Dir, Operations oversees the support of corporate restaurant operations within a region. The role is accountable for short‑and long‑term revenue growth and profitability of the region. The role is responsible for ensuring people development, product quality, customer satisfaction, image management, restaurant profitability and assimilation into Papa John’s culture, while driving initiatives to increase brand loyalty and financial profitability.
Duties And Responsibilities (other duties as assigned)
- Role is also open to candidates based in Lexington, KY or Indianapolis, IN.
- Ensure region profitability by demonstrating exemplary managerial and operations skills including making quality product; adhering to and ensuring compliance with Papa John’s policies, practices, and procedures by effectively utilizing company resources, monitoring training, providing necessary resources, and regularly visiting restaurants; completing administrative duties; monitoring proper delivery area sizes; and remaining current on operational changes and deploying changes utilizing market resources.
- Oversee financial goals through effective use of discretionary budgets, investments, and expenditures; participate in marketing co‑ops, set and oversee marketing budget; perform ROI analysis for all facets of the expanded area restaurants’ operations in order to make informed decisions and evaluate operations’ profitability and effectiveness by creating and analyzing various reports, key measures, trends, budgets, comparables, people assessments, and calendars to plan ongoing strategies.
- Identify new opportunities for sales growth; implement effective targeted marketing and district developmental strategies and plans to meet or exceed financial and business objectives; support region and company direction; and monitor the execution of the plans and adjust as necessary.
- Perform region planning and lead real‑estate development efforts utilizing appropriate resources; analyze new build, relocation, and remodeling needs; determine market needs and conduct ROI analysis; identify non‑traditional restaurant opportunities; work with Development to approve sites according to market needs and site analysis; oversee leases and maintain a good relationship with landlords; and set and oversee budget.
- Oversee the Director of Operations for a market and/or restaurants within an expanded area by determining labor needs and setting goals accordingly; lead staffing and recruiting initiatives; maintain adequate staffing levels; coach and develop team members; conduct succession planning; communicate performance expectations, assess developmental areas, and establish performance measurements and development plans; facilitate conflict resolution and take appropriate disciplinary action, up to and including terminations; and follow all company policies and federal, state, and local laws and ordinances regarding employment.
- Provide quality customer service to build and maintain a customer base; create and participate in customer‑oriented programs and maintain a strong presence in the community; professionally and promptly respond to customer concerns or issues—including customer complaints received through operations services; ensure appropriate and timely resolution of customer concerns or issues.
- Solicit customer feedback, share feedback with team, and use feedback to improve restaurants’ operations and build brand loyalty. Develop strong working relationships with corporate departments and operations team.
Education, Experience & Certifications
- High School Diploma or GED required; College degree preferred
- Five to seven years progressive management experience
- Five to ten years multi‑unit management experience
- Serv‑Safe/Local or State Food Service Certification preferred
