
Senior CRO Business Development Director
I am currently looking for a Senior Business Development Director for a leading full‑service CRO. They have been outperforming the competition, have a great culture and working environment that supports success, development, and growth, and a strong pipeline that is expanding the business development team worldwide.
This is a remote, work‑from‑home position focused on the California territory, encompassing the biotech hotspots. You will focus on winning new business and managing accounts within biotechnology companies across a broad range of therapeutic areas, with oncology, ophthalmology, metabolic, neurology, rare and infectious diseases as strengths. In order to be successful, you must have a strong biotech network and a CRO business development track record in this region, ideally selling full‑service CRO solutions or related services.
Base pay range: $150,000.00/yr - $200,000.00/yr
Responsibilities
- Achieve agreed upon sales and business development targets, creating and implementing appropriate business development strategies for identified target markets.
- Prospect with the goal of establishing a pipeline of sales opportunities and RFPs from potential clients, ensuring they are suitably qualified for competitive advantage, timing, budget, and decision makers.
- Establish relationships with potential CRO partners that can result in RFPs requiring a collaborative approach emphasizing the strengths of each organization to win new business.
- Meet with potential clients on a regular basis.
- Utilize Salesforce to track client activities, including meetings, opportunities, and updates, informing management of current status.
- Lead and manage the sales process for leads generated and received from internal and external sources.
- Lead the proposal development process for all opportunities, ensuring that strategy, budget, and proposal language and timelines match client expectations.
- Continuously redefine appropriate and profitable market niches for business opportunities based on evidence.
- Provide input to the marketing team to create and implement marketing strategies that support the business development process.
- Provide input to business development leadership on territory and industry knowledge to develop sales targets, strategies, and plans.
- Work with the team to define and implement strategies to support the sales process, including securing resources for pre‑sales activities.
- Engage with agents and consultants in other geographic locations to support business development activities in those markets.
- Engage with internal research staff to maximize selling opportunities related to existing travel schedules.
- Identify and attend appropriate conferences and trade shows to create business opportunities.
