Senior Business Development Director - Full service CRO - Mid-west

We’re looking for a Director or Senior Director of Business Development for a global full service clinical Contract Research organization. The role is an individual sales contributor, remote, working from home with a focus on the Mid‑west region (PA to California). You will manage existing accounts and secure new business with biotechnology companies across therapeutic areas. Success requires a strong network and sales track record in this region, selling full services CRO solutions.

Base pay range

$150,000.00/yr - $180,000.00/yr

Responsibilities

  • Achieving agreed upon sales and business development targets; creating and implementing appropriate business development strategies for identified target markets.
  • Prospecting to establish a pipeline of sales opportunities and RFPs from potential clients, suitably qualified for competitive advantage, timing, budget, decision maker.
  • Utilizing Salesforce to track client activities, meetings, opportunities, and updates to inform management of current status.
  • Leading and managing the sales process for leads generated and received from internal and external sources.
  • Leading proposal development for all opportunities and the assigned team to ensure strategy, budget, and proposal language and timelines match client expectations.
  • Continuously redefining appropriate and profitable market niches for business opportunities based on evidence.
  • Providing input to the marketing team to create and implement marketing strategies supporting the business development process.
  • Providing input to business development leadership on territory and industry knowledge to develop sales targets, strategies, and plans.
  • Working with the team to define and implement strategies to support the sales process, including securing resources for pre‑sales activities.
  • Engaging with agents and consultants in other geographic locations to support business development activities.
  • Engaging with internal research staff to maximize selling opportunities associated with existing travel schedules.
  • Identifying and attending appropriate conferences and trade shows to create business opportunities.
