Overview Thank you for considering volunteering with Oro Valley Parks & Recreation. Volunteers are the heart and soul of our community and an integral part of what we do. Volunteers have a positive impact on the community while surrounding themselves in the historical treasures and natural resources of Oro Valley. They work closely with department managers and staff while participating in projects and events.

Essential Functions Participates in the organization, coordination and implementation of department events, programs and projects.

Volunteer Opportunities

Event Volunteer — helps put on special events within the community (examples include swim meets, races, and community events); participates in planning meetings, helps with theme, design props and entertainment, and assists with setup and cleanup of events.

Community Center Volunteer — answers questions, gives tours, provides support at the front desk; assists with membership information and phone inquiries; supports special events and programs such as pickleball or trips.

Archery Range Volunteer — checks passes to ensure range fees are paid; walks walking courses to identify maintenance needs and assists with maintenance recommendations and projects.

Steam Pump Ranch Volunteer — sets up for farmer’s markets; assists during weddings and events (fence, seating, stage, food trucks); helps children and families with craft projects during events and summer programs.

Hiking Or Biking Guide — works with staff to choose locations, leads participants on trails, and shares knowledge.

Minimum Qualifications

Willingness to be a part of a group positively impacting the community.

Knowledge of parks & recreation or area of interest is a plus.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Town staff and public.

Ability to read, write, comprehend and interpret a wide variety of literature and reports.

Work is performed in indoor and/or outdoor environments.

The Town was incorporated in April 1974. It is developing a strong reputation as home to bioscience and biotech industries. The Town of Oro Valley has a council/manager form of government. Six council members and the mayor are elected for four-year terms. The town manager is appointed by the town council. The Town provides high-quality services including: police, planning, zoning, construction, inspection, transit services, traffic engineering, street maintenance, storm water management, flood control, water utility, parks, recreation, aquatics, cultural resources, economic development, constituent services, community and media relations, budget development, debt and investment management, attorney services, magistrate court and more.
