Summary Summer House on Music Lane is looking for a Runner/Server Assistant who will assist food service employees in delivering food to tables, maintain cleanliness, attend to needs behind the bar, clean tables, carry dirty dishes, replace soiled table linens, set tables, replenish supply of clean linens, silverware, glassware, and dishes, and serve water, appetizers and coffee to patrons.

Organization – Hotel Magdalena Summer House on Music Lane is part of Hotel Magdalena, an 89‑room hotel located in Texas, offering a casual sophistication lake‑house atmosphere. The restaurant serves the public daily on South Congress.

We’re Looking For A Runner / Server Assistant to assist with food delivery, cleanliness, bar support, table setting, and customer service.

Qualifications

Six (6) months related experience in hospitality or service industry

Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) of the workplace

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedures manuals

Job Requirements

Adhere to dress code policies during shift

Perform serving, cleaning, and stocking duties in order to facilitate customer service

Respond promptly to guest comments and concerns and inform supervisor

Maintain adequate supplies of items such as clean linens, silverware, glassware, dishes, and trays

Ensure beverage and ice dispensers, cabinets, serving areas are stocked and replenish supplies of food and equipment

Stock refrigerating units with wines and bottled beer, and replace empty beer keg

Set tables with clean linens, condiments, and other supplies

Scrape and stack dirty dishes, and carry dishes to kitchens for cleaning

Clean tables, counters, shelves, walls, furniture, and equipment in food service areas and mop and vacuum floors

Wash glasses and other serving equipment at bars

Clean up spilled food, drink and broken dishes, and remove empty bottles and trash

Serve ice water, coffee, and standard appetizers (i.e. bread/butter or chips/salsa) to patrons

Maintain open lines of communication with all departments and upper management via email, logbooks, meetings, etc.

Maintain a high level of cleanliness and safety in the work area

Ensure that all equipment is maintained in good, safe working condition and maintain an increased awareness of safety issues throughout the property

Keep abreast of safety and emergency procedures and OSHA requirements

Attend relevant meetings and adhere to all standards of operations, policies, manuals, training material, memos and verbal instruction

Perform additional tasks as needed based on fluctuating demands of the operation

Employee responsibilities and job descriptions are subject to review and revision

Working Conditions / Environment

Noise level is moderate, typical of a hotel/restaurant/office setting

May have to lift/carry up to fifty (50) pounds on a daily basis; anything over fifty (50) pounds requires a second person

May remain stationary for one (1) hour, move about/traverse property spaces, push, kneel, bend, balance, squat, reach and stretch for up to eight (8) hours per day
