Role Scope This role operates with significant autonomy and is expected to make day-to-day commercial decisions within established pricing, contracting, and approval frameworks. The Senior Account Manager is a critical contributor to revenue stability, customer retention, and long-term growth.
Position Summary The Senior Account Manager (SAM) serves as the primary commercial owner for a defined portfolio of customer accounts. This role is accountable for end-to-end account performance including onboarding execution, day-to-day relationship management, retention, expansion, and statement of work growth.
The SAM operates as the single point of commercial accountability, translating customer needs into revenue outcomes while ensuring disciplined execution, strong follow-through, and data integrity across all systems.
This role is revenue-impacting, externally facing, and execution-heavy, requiring a balance of relationship management, commercial acumen, and operational discipline.
Essential Functions Commercial Ownership & Revenue Growth Serve as the primary commercial owner for assigned customer accounts, accountable for overall account performance and revenue outcomes. Drive retention, scope expansion, category penetration, and profitable growth within existing statements of work. Identify upsell and cross-sell opportunities aligned to customer needs and company offerings. Maintain a strong understanding of customer economics, purchasing behavior, and growth drivers. Onboarding & Activation Lead customer onboarding and activation in partnership with internal teams, ensuring a timely, disciplined, and consistent experience. Set clear expectations with customers regarding timelines, responsibilities, and success milestones. Ensure customers are fully activated and positioned for long-term adoption and success. Account Health & Risk Management Proactively monitor account health, usage trends, satisfaction indicators, and early warning signs of churn or decline. Develop and execute mitigation plans for at-risk accounts. Escalate issues appropriately and partner cross-functionally to resolve risks and protect revenue. Quote & Contract Management Own quote development, pricing discussions, approvals, and follow-through from initial request through execution. Ensure accuracy, completeness, and alignment with approved pricing, margin expectations, and contractual terms. Coordinate renewals, amendments, and SOW expansions in a timely and disciplined manner. Cross-Functional Collaboration Partner closely with Technical Account Managers, Customer Success, Operations, and Finance to deliver a cohesive customer experience. Act as the voice of the customer internally while balancing commercial priorities and operational realities. Ensure smooth handoffs and alignment across the customer lifecycle. CRM & Commercial Discipline Maintain accurate, timely, and complete CRM records including account notes, pipeline activity, quotes, renewals, and forecasts. Ensure data integrity to support forecasting, reporting, and leadership decision-making. Adhere to defined sales and account management processes without exception.
Success Metrics Performance in this role will be evaluated against both qualitative and quantitative measures, including: Account retention and churn rates Revenue growth within assigned accounts Expansion and SOW growth attainment Onboarding completion timelines and adoption milestones CRM accuracy and forecast reliability Customer satisfaction and relationship strength
Qualifications & Skills Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience 3-5+ years of experience in inside sales, account management, customer success, or a quota-carrying commercial role Proven ability to manage and grow complex customer accounts Strong commercial judgment and negotiation skills Experience working cross-functionally in a fast-paced, execution-driven environment Proficiency with CRM platforms and quoting tools Experience in B2B, services, SaaS, or solution-based selling environments Exposure to SOW-based or contract-driven revenue models Prior experience managing enterprise or strategic accounts
