
Structure Tone, part of the STO Building Group company, is looking to identify a Civil Estimator to support our project in Poughkeepsie, NY. The Civil Estimator will develop, create and prepare civil cost estimates for a diverse set of projects in the early stages of development and continue to support the project team with updated cost information throughout the pre‑construction phase of the projects.
Responsibilities
Review and interpret project plans, blueprints, and specifications.
Prepare detailed quantity take‑offs and cost estimates for civil construction activities (earthworks, concrete, utilities, asphalt, grading, etc.).
Develop conceptual and preliminary estimates during the early stages of design.
Analyze labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs to ensure pricing accuracy.
Prepare and submit tenders, bids, and proposals in line with company standards and client requirements.
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and procurement teams to gather accurate pricing information.
Communicate with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain quotations and verify scope coverage.
Participate in pre‑bid meetings, site visits, and client briefings as required.
Assist in value engineering exercises to optimize cost efficiency without compromising quality.
Maintain organized and detailed records of all estimating activities.
Prepare cost summaries, bid comparisons, and project cost reports.
Support post‑bid analysis and handover to project teams after award.
Qualifications
BS or BA required. Preferred areas of study include construction, management, engineering or architecture.
5+ years of experience in estimating, construction engineering/project engineering, or related duties in general contractor estimating and purchasing.
Preferred experience with Data Center, Mission Critical, Corporate Interiors.
Earns and maintains trust by demonstrating honesty, accountability and reliability.
Salary Range:
130,000 – 170,000
