Job Summary The Athletics Live Broadcast Assistant position reports to Assistant Athletic Director for Broadcast Operations. The majority of work will be performed throughout the various athletics facilities at UP, with occasional work in other areas on campus. The position is year round, majority of hours on weeknights, various times on the weekends, with opportunity for daytime weekday hours. Primary role for the position is to assist University of Portland Athletics In-House Video Department and NW Emmy Nominated, Portland Sports Network, with day-to-day operations of covering live games for ESPN+ live streams and TV broadcasts, with opportunities to work on creative video content for our all social media channels as well. Employees will be evaluated on a semester by semester basis. Schedules are determined based on class schedules and availability.
Core Duties
Assist in gameday operations in a variety of broadcast positions, including:
Camera Operation
Audio Mixing
Instant Replay Operation
Graphics Operation
Broadcast Directing
Broadcast Producing
Take direction from broadcast Producer & Director
Assist with capturing pregame, halftime, postgame, and live gameplay action
Learn how to work multiple positions on a broadcast crew
Maintain and organize video and photo assets server per department policy
Maintain all department equipment through proper storage policies
Assist in promotion of content through department social media accounts
Other relevant duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Have a strong work ethic
Be willing to learn various skills and put the time into mastering them.
Available to work nights and weekends.
Strong attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
Familiar with Adobe Creative Suite.
Experience with HD cameras on manual settings.
Familiarity with audio mixing, lighting, and shot composition.
