
Commercial Loan Officer & Underwriter

PEG's non profit client is seeking a Senior Lender with Commercial Real Estate experience to join their team on a permanent basis.
About the Role The Senior Lender plays a key role in expanding access to capital for mission-driven organizations by managing the full lifecycle of complex lending opportunities. This position is responsible for building strong borrower relationships, evaluating financial and operational capacity, structuring loans, and supporting long-term portfolio success. The role combines underwriting expertise, business development, and cross‑functional collaboration to advance equitable community outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as the primary relationship manager for borrowers within an assigned region
Source, underwrite, structure, and close commercial loans, including complex transactions
Guide applicants through the full loan process from initial inquiry through closing and post‑close monitoring
Analyze financial statements, projections, operating plans, and project risks to inform lending decisions
Prepare and present loan recommendations to internal approval committees
Coordinate with legal, credit, and closing partners to ensure timely and compliant loan execution
Support ongoing portfolio management through borrower engagement and performance monitoring
Lead business development efforts by cultivating referral networks, responding to inquiries, and delivering presentations or workshops
Contribute to the enhancement of lending programs, policies, and outreach strategies
Maintain accurate records within customer relationship management systems
Demonstrate a strong commitment to equity, inclusion, and community‑centered lending practices
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; background in finance, accounting, or business preferred
Minimum of seven years of experience in commercial lending, banking, or real estate finance
Strong knowledge of credit analysis, financial statement review, and loan structuring
Experience marketing or originating loan products
Familiarity with nonprofit or mission‑driven organizations preferred
Excellent communication, relationship‑building, and presentation skills
Proficiency with spreadsheets and database systems
