Understanding/Implementation of Framing / Steel Principles:

Thorough understanding of layout in various applications. For example: Project layout, steel layout, floor systems, walls, roofs, windows / door rough openings, etc. Thorough understanding of building principles and general construction practices. How well does the employee understand / communicate / retain the “why” behind each common building element, including that of adjacent trades. Ability to relate new tasks to previous projects, find the starting point and rapidly have tasks for subordinates. Effective identification of key tasks in a project and the order in which they should be completed to maximize productivity. Ability to create systems of production in which even entry level employees can be productive and contribute to the overall progress of the project. Can look at plans and other project documents (shop drawings, door / window schedule, design drawings) and create work accurate work. Communication & Team Management Sills:

Keeps management informed on project progress and unforeseen conditions. Effectively manages several employees in completing multiple tasks daily. Initiates beginning of week and daily meetings; effectively laying out big picture as well as daily goals and related timelines. Can effectively delegate and explain a task to an employee using correct terms for each building element to promote learning in subordinates and clear communication. Can effectively teach employees how to utilize and maintain tools. For example: basic hand tools to circular saws, nail guns, hammer drills, etc. Can effectively teach building principles and material uses to employees. Supports fellow employees in their development and in achieving their stated goals Qualifications

Site Management:

Maintains a clean and organized job site and holds others accountable in doing the same. Holds others accountable in using tools, ladders, scaffolding in a safe manner. Can effectively set up a site to facilitate a safe and efficient workspace. Can quickly make accommodations for other trades without sacrificing workflow for their team or said external subcontractor. Initiates debriefs about dangerous scenarios that arise and how to mitigate in the future. Is able to identify and track work that wasn’t in the original project scope of work. Builder Relationship Overall:

Communication with contractors on a regular basis regarding progress, material needs, safety concerns, and any challenges that might affect the plan being currently followed. Ability to be understood by contractors regarding project specific details especially on phone calls. For example: A lead carpenter can call a builder and explain a detail in such a way that said contractor clearly understands the question and can decide from the information provided. Consistency in producing what the contractor requests or drawings specified and asks clarifying questions regarding requested or stated detail. Carpenter also follows up as needed. Builder confidence in the Lead Carpenter’s abilities. Education and Experience:

High school diploma is an asset. 5-10 years of experience in residential framing. Willingness and availability to commit to a consistent 40-hour work week (Monday-Friday 7:00am-3:30pm, in Park City area). Strong working knowledge of job site safety as well as ability to complete a company specific safety orientation. Additional Information
