Description Star Lumber & Supply is seeking a knowledgeable and driven

Countertop Sales & Project Specialist

to serve as the in-house subject matter expert on all countertop products while driving outside sales and managing projects from initial consultation through template and fabrication coordination.

This role bridges the gap between the retail flooring showroom, customers’ homes, and our countertop fabrication plant. The ideal candidate combines strong product knowledge, outside sales ability, field measuring (templating) expertise, and seamless communication with fabrication and installation teams to ensure accurate execution and exceptional customer experience.

Key Responsibilities: Countertop Subject Matter Expert

Serve as the primary in-store expert on all countertop materials.

Educate customers and internal sales staff on material performance, fabrication considerations, edge profiles, finishes, seam placement, and care requirements.

Stay up to date on industry trends, new products, and fabrication technologies.

Assist showroom team with complex design questions and technical details.

Outside Sales & Business Development

Build relationships with builders, designers, vendors, and contractors to generate repeat business.

Develop and maintain a pipeline of residential and light commercial projects.

Prepare detailed and accurate quotes based on field measurements and design requirements.

Follow up on leads, proposals, and pending projects to close sales.

Templating & Field Measurements

Perform precise on-site measurements (templating) for countertops using manual or digital templating systems.

Identify potential challenges such as out-of-square walls, support requirements, appliance specifications, and backsplash details.

Communicate detailed measurements and job specifications to the fabrication plant.

Fabrication & Installation Coordination

Work hand-in-hand with the countertop fabrication plant to ensure accurate production schedules and specifications.

Coordinate timelines between sales, fabrication, and installation.

Address change orders, revisions, and field adjustments proactively.

Support issue resolution with fabrication and installation teams when needed.

Project Management

Oversee projects from sale to final installation.

Maintain clear communication with customers regarding timelines, material availability, and installation scheduling.

Ensure all job documentation is complete and accurate.

Deliver an exceptional customer experience through proactive updates and follow-through.

Requirements

3–5+ years of experience in countertop sales, stone fabrication, kitchen & bath design, or related field.

Strong knowledge of countertop materials, fabrication processes, and installation requirements.

Experience with field measurements or digital templating systems preferred.

Proven success in outside sales and relationship-building.

Ability to read blueprints and construction drawings.

Strong math skills and attention to detail.

Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally for in-home consultations.
