Designer - Tooling Department

We are seeking a skilled Designer to join our Tooling Department. This role is ideal for a hands-on CAD/CAM professional who enjoys solving complex design challenges and bringing rubber OEM and consumer products from concept to production. If you have strong surface/solid modeling experience, a background in mold design, and enjoy working closely with machinists and toolmakers, we'd love to hear from you. What You'll Do

Create 3D surface and solid models of rubber parts using CAD/CAM software through reverse engineering (scan data and measurement) Design molds, extrusion dies, form tooling, and peripheral tooling for new and existing products Interpret sketches, drawings, and sample parts to determine design intent, dimensions, tolerances, and machining requirements Work extensively with organic, free-form surface modeling Provide project time estimates and support production timelines Design fixtures, cutting tools, dies, and attachments for CNC machining centers, wire EDM, manual lathes, mills, and fabrication equipment Produce 3D printed samples and tooling details for evaluation and approval Collaborate with toolmakers, machinists, software vendors, and IT to resolve design and manufacturing challenges Troubleshoot scanning and modeling issues Help maintain CAD workstations, 3D scanners, 3D printers, and related software What We're Looking For

Education & Experience Trade school or secondary education plus 2+ years of mold design experience, OR Toolmaking journeyman background with 4+ years of mold making experience Advanced ("Class A") surface/solid modeling skills Strong working knowledge of mold design, reverse engineering, and CNC programming Experience with high-end CAD/CAM systems Technical Skills Ability to use machine shop measuring tools Strong understanding of algebra, geometry, and trigonometry as applied to design and machining Capable of solving practical design and engineering problems with limited initial data Communication & Teamwork Able to read and interpret safety rules, manuals, and technical documents Comfortable completing reports and documentation Works collaboratively with production teams, vendors, and technical partners Work Environment & Physical Requirements

Primarily seated, computer-based design work with occasional standing and walking Frequent use of hands for tools and equipment Requires close attention to visual detail, including depth perception and focus adjustment Shop environment with moderate noise levels This job description is not a contract, and duties may be adjusted as business needs change.
