The advocate provides trauma-informed medical, legal, and institutional advocacy services to survivors of sexual assault through the Stepping Stones Sexual Assault Program. This position is responsible for supporting survivors throughout medical response, law enforcement reporting, and criminal justice processes, ensuring services are victim-centered, confidential, and responsive to individual needs. Primary responsibilities include providing crisis intervention, emotional support, information, and systems advocacy during and following hospital forensic examinations, police investigations, and court proceedings. This position participates in institutional advocacy efforts by maintaining collaborative working relationships with healthcare providers, law enforcement agencies, and criminal justice partners. The role also supports community and professional education efforts by assisting with trainings and outreach that promote awareness and sensitivity to sexual assault and trauma-informed response.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s degree in Education, Human Services, Psychology or related field preferred.

Proficiency in English required. Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.

Ability to speak to large groups and effectively present information to the public is preferred.

Attend and complete 40-hour Crisis Intervention Sexual Assault training as required by ICASA.

Must have a basic knowledge of and ability to use Microsoft Office, including Power Point, Word, and the internet.

Maintain high level of professionalism, communication and confidentiality.

Must be a self-starter and have the ability to work independently.

Must be able to interact positively and equally with children, teens, adults, and the elderly.
