Instructional Designer, Training Curriculum Dev
Location:
Livermore, CA (REMOTE)
Looking for candidates currently residing within the service territory (Central and Northern California). Assignment will be mainly remote. Will be required to travel 1 to 2 times quarterly to Auburn, Winters, Livermore or Sierra region for site visits as needed. Overnight stays will be required 1 or 2 times quarterly. Mileage reimbursement, per diem for meals and lodging will be approved as needed with manager prior approval. Client’s laptop will be issued. If additional equipment is needed it will be provided by the respective supplier. PPE will be provided as needed and must be returned at end of assignment.

Responsibilities
Design and develop instructor‑led and on‑the‑job training for apprenticeships in the power generation utilities industry including hydro, solar, and battery storage.
Leverage and apply established instructional design methodologies to assess stakeholder needs, analyze complex content, and evaluate delivered training.
Develop learning materials for technical content, including hands‑on practice activities, student guides, facilitator guides, scenarios, videos, assessments, simulations, and other instructional media.
Perform detailed task analysis for each job function, business process, or system for which training will be developed.
Partner with cross‑functional teams to conceptualize training design and content.
Define learning objectives and course structure aligned to stakeholder needs and to meet the constraints of the learning environment.
Work under the direction of the Senior Instructional Designer to apply company standards, guidelines, and templates.
Write clear and effective instructional text, audio, or video scripts appropriate for the target audience.
Participate in milestone meetings with subject matter experts, including task analysis, alpha, beta, and train‑the‑trainer.
Engage with subject matter experts for ongoing content review and validation.
Receive and incorporate feedback.
Self‑manage assigned tasks and deadlines to complete deliverables.
Proactively communicate issues and risks.
Required Skills
3+ years’ experience developing instructor‑led training and on‑the‑job tasks for technical skills.
Knowledge of adult learning theory and instructional design and methodologies.
Proven experience performing task analysis.
Strong knowledge of PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Teams.
Demonstrated ability to execute and deliver against multiple competing deadlines, as needed.
Desired Skills
Experience developing technical training on machining, solar technician, SCADA, or hydro operations.
Experience with QuestionMark, Author‑It or Storyline.
Client's Academy experience a plus.
Location Must live within Client’s Territory of Central or Northern California. Must follow Pacific Standard Time office hours in a virtual office environment.
