Maintenance Shop Service Writer at Transdev North America in Bronx, NY. The Service Writer ensures efficient vehicle maintenance scheduling and manages orders. We are looking for customer service-oriented professionals who are dedicated to safety. Responsibilities
Opens work request immediately upon receipt. Closes work request immediately upon completion of quality inspection. Answers telephone for shop lines and schedules repair appointments. Maintains vehicle information files. Takes road call information and communicates with Lead Technician, Operations Manager, or General Manager to dispatch mechanic or outside service. Contacts outside vendors to arrange mechanical repairs, using information provided. Arranges pick-up of outside repairs. Files work orders with PM sheets, DVIR (operator write up), and maintains unit file related information. Runs review reports as needed. The above duties are not meant to restrict initiative but define minimum activities; duties may be altered to suit company needs. Qualifications
Previous Service Writer experience. Able to work in a fast-paced environment. Strong computer, data entry, Microsoft, and database applications skills and experience. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Able to use standard office equipment. Understand how to file and organize documents. Subject to a DOT drug testing and physical if applicable. DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including cannabis, for any reason. Physical Requirements
The essential functions require the ability to work outside in varying temperatures and weather conditions (100% of the job outside, may work alone or in remote locations). Sit for extended periods (up to 6–8 hours per day); frequently walk long distances and on possible sloped, slippery, or uneven surfaces. Push and pull objects; lift up to 50 lbs with or without assistance; occasionally bend, kneel, or crouch to access files or equipment stored at ground level. Withstand exposure to heavy traffic areas and vehicle fumes and noise. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
