Job Description
We have seventy-one active confessing members and five inactive confessing members. The average church attendance on a Sunday ranges from 30 to 60. Sunday church services begin about 20 minutes prior to the Prelude, with the Fellowship Room attached to the back of the Sanctuary, providing a supportive time of fellowship before the service. The service typically includes a Call to Worship, three Worship and Praise Team songs performed by the praise singers group up front, a prayer of adoration, and the children’s message led by the pastor or a congregation volunteer. The main prayer time includes prayers of confession, congregational needs, and concerns related to community, missions, and the world. The Scripture reading and message follow, with a Hymn of Response and Offering. The service concludes with the Doxology and Benediction. After the worship service and before Sunday School, there is coffee fellowship. Sunday School is provided for all ages. Requirements
Educational Programs: Sunday School meets following the morning service, according to the school year calendar, with preschool through adult classes available. Mid-week classes on Wednesday evening for grades 2nd through 8th for Catechism. Wednesday night Family Worship, once a month, includes an evening meal and Bible Study. Vacation Bible School is for preschool through 8th grade. Fall Women’s Bible Study. Church Property: Immanuel has a brick church building with a full basement housing classrooms and maintenance equipment, located on a blacktop east of Belmond, Iowa. A brick ranch-style parsonage with three bedrooms upstairs and two downstairs, including a home office and Pastor’s study. A wood utility shed is located at the back of the property. A cemetery is situated to the west of the church and is visible from the front road. Paid Staff: Custodian Newsletter Publisher Consistory Membership: Members are elected through a single slate, including one elder and one deacon. The consistory comprises the pastor, three elders, and three deacons. Leadership Roles: Both men and women hold teaching, deacon, and elder positions. Both men and women serve as pulpit supply. The Congregation: Most members have up to twelve years of formal education, with some holding college, graduate, master's, and Theology degrees. A few members have science and engineering degrees. The congregation includes men and women who are farmers, business and office professionals, teachers, students, industrial workers, housewives, and employed outside the home. Many are retired from these roles. The congregation comprises both single and married adults. Desired Qualifications for the Pastor: Master of Divinity Degree Alignment with the teachings of the Alliance of Reformed Churches
