
Director of Engineering

In this role, you’ll be responsible for elevating and strengthening an already fully operational engineering function. That means gaining a deep understanding of the building’s existing systems, optimizing current processes, and leading an engineering team that takes pride in keeping the hotel performing at its best each day.
Your focus will include:
Enhancing and maintaining all preventive maintenance protocols,
operational checklists, and long-term asset protection plans to ensure the property remains in peak condition.
Hiring, leading, developing, and mentoring a high‑performing engineering team
who consistently deliver reliable, guest‑focused operations.
Managing and refining vendor relationships and service agreements to support
efficient, cost‑effective, and dependable building performance.
Updating and enforcing SOPs and emergency response plans
that prioritize guest safety, system integrity, and operational continuity.
Partnering cross‑functionally
to support seamless hotel operations and contribute to a culture of collaboration, accountability, and care.
You’ll become the leader who knows this building inside and out—and the one who ensures it continues to operate safely, efficiently, and reliably. We’re looking for a hands‑on, detail‑minded professional who understands that every system, switch, and sensor plays a role in delivering
thoughtful design, responsible operations, and genuine hospitality.
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or related technical field preferred
Minimum 5-7 years of progressive leadership experience in hospitality engineering, facilities management, or related industry
Proven track record of building and managing high-performing technical teams
Experience with luxury or boutique hospitality properties strongly preferred
Specific Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Expert-level knowledge of electrical systems, HVAC operations, plumbing, and mechanical equipment diagnostics
Advanced understanding of life safety systems, building automation, and energy management systems
Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical manuals, and system documentation
Strong financial acumen with experience in budget development, capital planning, and vendor management
Exceptional leadership and communication skills with ability to mentor and develop technical talent
Deep knowledge of building codes, safety regulations, and compliance requirements
Physical Demands
Ability to work in various environmental conditions including mechanical rooms, rooftops, and confined spaces
Capability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks related to equipment maintenance
Comfort working at heights and in areas with potential safety hazards
Availability for on‑call responsibilities and emergency response situations
Ability to walk extensively throughout the property and navigate stairs, ladders, and uneven surfaces
