Responsibilities
Review and analyze existing real-time character animations within Unity, focusing on sports-style movement.
Identify sources of motion realism issues, including animation data, timing, posing, and Unity implementation.
Provide detailed, practical feedback and recommendations for improving animation transitions, weight transfer, and foot placement.
Advise on best practices for blending animations and responding to gameplay inputs to achieve smooth, natural results.
Offer mentorship and guidance tailored to a self-taught 3D generalist aiming to advance their animation skills.
Suggest resources, workflows, or tools that can support ongoing animation improvement.
Skills And Requirements
Extensive experience in 3D character animation for games, with a portfolio demonstrating realistic movement and transitions.
Deep understanding of Unity's animation system, including Animator Controller, blend trees, and real-time implementation.
Strong knowledge of animation principles, especially as they apply to sports or dynamic character movement.
Ability to diagnose and articulate technical and artistic issues in animation, including foot sliding, weight transfer, and timing.
Excellent communication skills for providing clear, actionable feedback and mentorship.
Experience working with self-taught or junior animators is a plus.
Availability for remote, flexible mentorship sessions.
