The Role We Want You For The Electrical Preconstruction Director will lead specific estimates and guide team members. Responsibilities include accurately calculating project costs by preparing budgets for Electrical, Technology, and Low Voltage Systems for pursuits and awarded projects. Candidates should be highly organized, communicate effectively, and be proficient with computers. Prior construction industry experience and advanced knowledge in quantity takeoff are essential. Projects will focus on complex work such as Electric Vehicle (EV) facilities, Semiconductors, and Food & Beverage Manufacturing.
The Specifics of the Role
Bid work accurately, competitively, and timely.
Review RFP or design documents to understand scope, develop RFI lists for clarifications, especially for complex projects.
Coordinate with project team on take-offs, estimating, constructability, value engineering, and scope reviews.
Estimate and complete pricing gaps from conceptual design documents.
Material take-offs, subcontractor and manufacturer price solicitations, and direct labor estimation.
Support building relationships with material suppliers and vendors for current pricing.
Maintain relationships with subcontractors to verify market conditions and labor issues.
Keep subcontractor and material costs updated in estimating software.
Contribute data for conceptual estimating, including man-hours and cost per unit measures.
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field, or equivalent experience.
15+ years estimating experience in electrical systems.
Ability to review bid documents and identify design critiques or value engineering opportunities.
Work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
Proven leadership, safety awareness, follow-up, coaching, and teamwork skills.
Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
