TruNorth Federal Credit Union is seeking a compassionate, member-focused Member Service Specialist to join our growing team in Ishpeming, MI. TruNorth Federal Credit Union has two branch locations and over 40 employees. This is a full-time, non-exempt position, working 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, with regular hours extending until 6 p.m and potential to work Saturdays. This position will be primarily based in Ishpeming, MI, but you may need to work at our Marquette office based on TruNorth business needs.
This role involves a variety of responsibilities focused on delivering excellent member service while building strong, lasting member relationships. Responsibilities include directing phone inquiries, performing account maintenance, providing thoughtful support during member life transitions, educating members of all ages on products and services, supporting the teller team as needed, and developing specialized knowledge in Individual Retirement Accounts (IRAs).
Primary Responsibilities •Assist members with a variety of services including, but not limited to, printing statements, ordering checks, processing wire transfers, issuing stop payments, redeeming savings bonds, online banking assistance, and updating member demographic information.
•Assist members and beneficiaries with account transitions, including guidance following the passing of a member, in accordance with credit union policies and regulatory requirements.
•Assist the teller line in executing day-to-day member transactions.
•Build and maintain strong relationships with members through consistent, personalized service and proactive follow-up.
•Learn and develop expertise in Individual Retirement Accounts (IRAs), with the goal of becoming a knowledgeable resource for members.
•Presents and explains credit union services and products to members and assists in meeting their financial needs. Opens and closes all types of accounts and memberships including personal, business, trusts, POA’s, estates, and representative payee.
•Provide first-line phone support, resolving member issues directly or routing callers to the appropriate department in a prompt and professional manner.
•Provide backup for processing deceased member accounts.
•Provide backup for reviewing remote deposit capture.
•Provide patient, respectful assistance to all members, helping them understand products, services, and account options.
•Review online membership applications.
•Perform other duties as needed.

•Knowledge of credit union products and services (or the ability to learn quickly).

Minimum Education High School Diploma
Minimum Experience One year of business or customer service experience.
Preferences Experience in a financial institution
Post high school education or training
Compensation Minimum $19/hour. Compensation is commensurate with qualifications/experience.
