The Senior Credit Specialist is responsible for analyzing and assessing the creditworthiness of customers using external credit risk management reports to determine appropriate credit limits, research account disputes and bill discrepancies, perform customer account reconciliation, respond to credit inquiries from external and internal customers, and identify delinquent accounts requiring external collection efforts. This position is responsible for leading process‑improvement initiatives that strengthen team effectiveness and for overseeing all credit‑related activities associated with new acquisitions.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Credit Review and Analysis
Establish new customer accounts
Perform financial research to determine lines of credit
Prepare analysis of customers who exceed authorization limit and make recommendations to the Credit Manager
Review and release credit holds, and ensure there is department coverage at all times for credit holds
Collections/Accounts Receivable
Resolve billing discrepancies and initiate invoice corrections
Work with customers and/or sales agent on resolving outstanding balances
Perform collection activities as needed
Make recommendations to Credit Manager for doubtful accounts, debt write-off and 3 rd party collections
Reporting
Review, update and maintain all reporting
Maintain various department spreadsheets
Customer Record Maintenance
Enter new customer information into correct databasesMaintain customer information
Maintain sales tax information
Customer Service
Maintain strong working relationships with customers and internal departments
Respond to customers in a timely and professional manner
Complete customer vendor forms for manager approval
Respond to customer insurance requests
Support the
Train/mentor new employees to create consistent high-quality output that meets our internal and external customer needs.
Provide backup coverage as needed for
Assist Manager with Department projects.
Facilitate as Team Lead for the Department.
Process Refinement
Work with Business Analyst on JD Edwards system updates, improvements, and error resolutions
Proactively identify and drive process improvements that increase efficiency and effectiveness to completion.
Acquisitions
Assist with all credit‑related aspects of new acquisitions.
Follow SOX procedures and controls, as well as corporate accounting
Responsible for ensuring that internal controls pertaining to processes as documented in the Company's Sarbanes Oxley documentation are adhered to. Any deviation from the documented controls should be reported to supervisor or another person in management.
ABOUT YOU:
3 + years of credit/collections experience or related work experience
Strong analytical skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Organized and detail orientated
Ability to multitask and work well while meeting deadlines
JD Edwards software experience preferred
Demonstrated ability to effectively utilize Microsoft applications, strong excel skills
Attention to detail and follow through on all action items
Must be able to work collaboratively in a cross‑functional environment and ensure timely completion of

$28-32/hour (DOE) + 5% Bonus Eligibility
