
Golf Course Tech - City of Columbus

This position involves responsible, skilled work in the care and maintenance of the City’s golf courses. The employee assists the Golf Course Superintendent with daily golf course and equipment operations. Additional duties include supervising crews on in-house projects; performing maintenance and repairs on equipment and golf carts; and applying fungicides and fertilizers to all playing surfaces. Work is performed under the direction of the Golf Course Superintendent.
Key Responsibilities
Set up the golf course for daily play and tournament events, including mowing patterns, tee and pin placements, bunker preparation, and overall course presentation. Perform irrigation system repairs, troubleshooting, and audits to ensure efficient water distribution and proper system operation. Program, monitor, and manage daily Toro NSN irrigation schedules in accordance with course conditions and weather requirements. Perform routine maintenance, repairs, and upkeep of the golf cart fleet to maintain functionality and appearance. Repairs valves, sprinkle heads, lines and motors in irrigation system; sharpens and adjusts mower blades. Inventories supplies; maintains records of fertilizer and pesticide applications; keeps records of material safety data sheets, chemical labels, and repair work orders up-to-date. Qualifications
Some experience as an equipment operator or in grounds maintenance. Possession of, or ability to obtain, required Nebraska Pesticide Applicator Licenses. Knowledge of the planting and care of grass, shrubbery, and trees; of golf course layout and maintenance requirements. Knowledge of golf course irrigation systems, including operation, troubleshooting, and repair. Knowledge of the methods, materials, tools, and techniques used on golf courses.
