The County of San Luis Obispo, California, is seeking a transformational Behavioral Health Director to provide strategic leadership and administrative oversight for its Behavioral Health Department during a critical period of organizational strengthening. Responsibilities
Provide strategic leadership and administrative oversight for the Behavioral Health Department.
Oversee five direct reports and mentor managers.
Collaborate closely with the fiscal team, providing input on budget development and oversight.
Advance accountability, performance, and service delivery across mental health and substance use programs.
Partner with advisory bodies, service partners, and community stakeholders to strengthen systems and advance community well‑being.
Qualifications
Executive-level behavioral health leader with Director-level or equivalent experience.
Demonstrated success leading complex public-sector behavioral health systems.
Extensive experience in behavioral health administration, clinical service delivery, and public-sector financing with diverse revenue streams.
Effective communicator and trusted leader who mentors managers and collaborates productively with advisory bodies, service partners, and community stakeholders.
