As our Director of Engineering, you will lead the overall engineering strategy and execution, overseeing all aspects of software development, architecture, and engineering processes across the product lifecycle. This role is critical in ensuring that BuildOps' software products are robust, scalable, and innovative. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in building and leading high‑performing engineering teams in a SaaS environment, with a strong focus on agile development, continuous integration, and delivering cutting‑edge technology solutions.
What You’ll Do: Engineering Strategy & Leadership
Develop and implement a comprehensive engineering strategy that aligns with BuildOps' product development goals, ensuring scalability and innovation as the company grows.
Establish and maintain engineering standards, methodologies, and best practices.
Lead, mentor, and scale a team of engineers, ensuring continuous development and engagement of top talent.
Collaborate with product management and customer success teams to ensure engineering excellence at every stage of product development.
Drive architectural decisions to ensure robust and scalable software solutions.
Oversee the design, development, and maintenance of both frontend and backend components.
Ensure the effective use of modern technologies to increase development efficiency and innovation.
Monitor and improve development processes to ensure timely and reliable releases.
Quality Assurance & Continuous Improvement
Define, track, and report on key engineering metrics (e.g., code quality, release velocity) to provide visibility into the product development process.
Establish a process for continuous improvement of engineering practices.
Collaboration & Cross-Functional Leadership
Work closely with QA teams to integrate testing processes into the Agile development cycle.
Collaborate with product management to ensure clear understanding of product requirements.
Foster a culture of innovation across the organization.
Ensure that engineering efforts consider customer use cases and business requirements.
Work with customer success teams to address customer-reported issues.
What We Look For:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
10+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within a high-growth SaaS or technology company.
Proven track record of leading engineering teams in an Agile environment.
Expertise in modern software development practices including microservices and cloud infrastructure.
Excellent leadership, communication, and collaboration skills.
Strong understanding of modern software development practices, including microservices, cloud infrastructure, and DevOps.
Experience working with cross-functional teams, including product management, development, and DevOps.
Excellent leadership, communication, and collaboration skills, with a passion for fostering a culture of engineering.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to use data to inform decisions.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
Able to work in a fast-paced, dynamic startup environment and adapt to change.
Ability to work a hybrid schedule - Monday/Friday WFH, Tuesday - Thursday, in office.
Compensation
$196,000 - $262,000 base salary + annual bonus
