- The Peer Support Specialist at LIFESTREAM BEHAVIORAL CENTER is responsible for providing empathetic and informed support to individuals navigating mental health and substance use challenges. By leveraging their own lived experiences, the Peer Support Specialist will foster a trusting environment, encourage personal growth, and support clients in achieving their recovery goals.

Key Responsibilities:

- Provide one-on-one peer support to clients, utilizing personal experience to offer guidance and encouragement.

- Facilitate group support sessions, promoting a safe and inclusive space for sharing and mutual support.

- Collaborate with clinical staff to develop and implement individualized recovery plans.

- Assist clients in identifying and accessing community resources and services.

- Advocate for client needs and preferences within the treatment team and broader community.

- Document client interactions and progress in accordance with organizational and regulatory standards.

- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills and knowledge in peer support and recovery practices.

- Promote a culture of hope and empowerment, encouraging clients to take active roles in their recovery journeys.## QualificationsRequired Education:

- High school diploma or equivalent required.

- Some college coursework in psychology, social work, or a related field is preferred.

Required Experience:

- Minimum of one year of experience in a mental health or social services setting.

- Experience working with individuals with mental health challenges or substance use disorders.

- Personal experience in recovery from mental health or substance use issues is highly valued.

Required Skills and Abilities:

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to connect with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

- Ability to work collaboratively within a team and independently when necessary.

- Knowledge of community resources and support services related to mental health and substance use recovery.

- Empathy and compassion for individuals facing mental health and substance use challenges.

- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical guidelines in a professional setting.
