Brief Summary of Work for this Position The Office of Housing and Residence Life at UNCW employs a staff of students and temporary maintenance workers during the summer. The primary mission is to assist the full‑time Maintenance Staff in performing routine maintenance work and are an important part of day‑to‑day operations in the summer transitions process. A major area of responsibility emphasized is customer service. Please refer to the position description below for detailed information.
Position Responsibilities
Perform routine maintenance work in residence halls, apartments, and suites which includes but is not limited to:
Lifting/Moving Furniture
Drywall repair
Power Washing
Assist Maintenance Technicians with various remodeling and repair projects
Communicate the status of jobs that are assigned daily as to the completeness of the task
Present professional appearance and attitude at all times and maintain a high level of customer service
Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Director of Facility Operations and/or the Lead Maintenance Technician
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Graduation from high school or equivalent.
Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Previous experience in one or more trades.
Ability to work closely with others in a team environment
Maintenance or facilities experience is beneficial however not required
Required Certifications or Licensure Must have a current/valid driver’s license.
Work Hours Work Days Monday - Friday
Hours Per Week At least 20 hours per week
Type of Position Anticipated Hiring Range $15 / hour. A 4‑day lunch pass is available for employees who work more than 30 hours.
