Job Description Summary
The Assistant Director of Campus Operations for Support provides operational leadership and administrative coordination for key support services that ensure the efficient day‑to‑day functioning of campus facilities and auxiliary operations. This position oversees the campus bookstore, print and mail services, facilities work order systems, vendor relationships, and departmental administrative processes.
The Assistant Director serves as a central point of coordination between Campus Operations staff, faculty, external partners, and vendors to support instructional and institutional needs. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to responsive customer service. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to manage multiple priorities, maintain accurate records, and support a safe, well‑maintained, and service‑oriented campus environment.
Under limited supervision, this position will exercise initiative and independent judgment in performance of assigned responsibilities. This position requires flexibility and receptivity to changing technologies, methods, processes, and organizational structure and practices.

Minimum Qualifications
Associate’s degree from a regionally accredited institution.
Must have three or more years of experience in campus operations, facilities services, retail operations, or administrative support roles.
Experience supervising part‑time, student, or temporary employees.
Prior experience working with vendors, service providers, or third‑party partners.
Strong communication, management, organizational, supervisory, and computer skills are required.
Training and/or experience in bookstore operations.
Basic understanding of copier/printer functionality and troubleshooting.
Ability to prepare requisitions, process purchasing documentation, and maintain reconciliation logs.
Ability to plan and implement and work cooperatively with other departments.
Knowledge of pertinent federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations.
Valid North Carolina driver’s license is required.
Ability to work occasionally on evenings and/or weekends, if necessary.
Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs and general office software and equipment.
Knowledge of local, state and federal laws concerning construction, ADA compliance, and OSHA compliance.
Ability to make sound decisions, evaluate priorities, multitask, and remain flexible.
Exceptionally self‑motivated and directed.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in Business Administration, Facilities Management, Operations Management, or a related field.
A minimum of 5 years of work experience in community college environment.
Experience in campus operations, facilities services, auxiliary services, or related administrative roles.
Experience in bookstore and procurement operations at an educational institution.
Experience working with the College Information System (CIS), based on the Ellucian Colleague system.
Experience working with Asset Essentials or similar Maintenance Management System.
Under the direction of the Director of Campus Operations, the Director of Plant and Maintenance Operations works cooperatively with BCCC faculty/staff to perform the following:
Provide oversight and daily management of the campus bookstore operations, including coordinating textbook and course material adoptions with faculty, serving as the primary liaison with the college’s online bookstore partner (eCampus), and supervising assigned work‑study students to ensure efficient and customer‑focused service.
Support mail services operations by receiving, organizing, sorting, and preparing incoming mail for campus distribution, ensuring timely and accurate delivery to departments and personnel.
Assist in the operation of the campus print shop by processing print and copy requests, maintaining production schedules, and monitoring and supporting the maintenance and functionality of campus copiers and related equipment.
Serve as the system administrator for the college’s work‑order management platform (Asset Essentials), including creating, assigning, and tracking work orders; coordinating with maintenance staff to ensure timely completion; establishing and managing preventative maintenance schedules; and maintaining accurate asset inventories, records, and lifecycle data.
Coordinate facility use requests from external organizations and community groups seeking to rent campus spaces for meetings and events, serving as the primary point of contact to gather event requirements, arrange room setups, catering, and audiovisual needs, prepare facility use agreements and invoices, and ensure events are executed smoothly and in accordance with college policies.
Serve as the liaison for vending service providers to ensure machines remain operational, properly stocked, and responsive to campus needs.
Provide administrative and fiscal support for Campus Operations by preparing requisitions, processing departmental purchasing documentation, maintaining monthly credit card reconciliation logs, and ordering supplies in accordance with college policies and procedures.
Maintain facility and location data within the college’s enterprise system (Colleague), ensuring accuracy and consistency of operational records.
Collaborate with Campus Operations team members to provide cross‑functional support for departmental initiatives, special projects, events, and daily operational needs.
Serve on institutional committees, including the Facilities and Maintenance Committee and the Health, Safety, and Chemical Hygiene Committee, contributing to planning, compliance, and continuous improvement efforts related to campus safety and operations.
Promote a professional, service‑oriented approach in all interactions with students, faculty, staff, and external partners, supporting a clean, safe, and efficient campus environment.
Perform other duties as assigned to support the mission and goals of Campus Operations and the college.
