Louisiana Public Broadcasting (LPB) is seeking a creative and data‑driven professional to lead content and audience engagement initiatives across digital platforms. The

Audience Engagement Specialist (Public Information Officer)

position develops and executes strategic content for social media, newsletters, and web platforms to increase reader and viewer engagement, while leveraging analytics to refine strategy and grow audience reach.

Minimum Qualifications

Four years of experience in public relations, journalism, marketing, content creation, social media management, or graphic design; OR

Six years of full‑time experience in any field plus one year of experience in public relations, journalism, marketing, content creation, social media management, or graphic design; OR

A bachelor's degree plus one year of experience in public relations, journalism, marketing, content creation, social media management, or graphic design; OR

An advanced degree in public relations, marketing, communications, journalism, or English.

Experience Substitution:

Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience toward the six years of full‑time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours, which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Job Duties

Create, plan, and execute engaging content across social media, newsletters, and web platforms to increase audience growth and engagement.

Analyze digital metrics and audience insights to evaluate performance and refine content and engagement strategies.

Develop and implement audience development initiatives that expand reach and strengthen relationships with existing viewers and supporters.

Manage community engagement through responsive, two‑way communication across digital platforms and events.

Report directly to the

TV Programming Director

and collaborate with Production, Friends of LPB, Marketing, Digital Media, and other agency teams to ensure aligned messaging and strategic impact.

Work Schedule:

Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday‑Friday; however, varying work schedules are offered.

Compensation:

The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience. Applicants that possess experience greater than the minimum qualifications may be considered for a salary higher than the minimum hiring rate utilizing State Civil Service Rule 6.5(g).
