Job description JD: Associate Designer – Women’s Structured Wovens and Cut & Sew Knits
We are seeking an Associate Designer to partner with the Design Director in the end-to-end design and development process across structured wovens and cut & sew knits. This role is integral to supporting the execution of elevated, well-crafted products aligned with the Faherty women’s brand vision, while building a strong foundation for growth within the design team.
What you’ll do:
Support the Design Director across all stages of design and development, from concept to final approval.
Create detailed flat sketches and CADs in Adobe Illustrator, ensuring clear and accurate construction visuals for tech packs.
Maintain and manage all design documentation, including tech packs, sketches, development charts, and seasonal files.
Coordinate daily follow-up with internal cross-functional partners and external vendors.
Partner with Fabric and Product Development teams to research and source materials and trims aligned with brand standards and sustainability goals.
Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify innovation and design opportunities.
Assist in creating wash/garment dye development directions and comments.
Maintain and update seasonal concept boards for presentations.
Participate in fit sessions and update flats, BOMs, and development notes following fittings.
Track development samples, wash approvals, and color standards to ensure timelines and quality standards are met.
Proactively anticipate design and development needs and take initiative to move work forward.
Qualification
2+ years of apparel design experience, preferably in women’s wovens and/or cut & sew knits.
Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
Strong technical sketching and CAD skills with a high level of attention to detail.
Solid understanding of woven construction, structured garments, and the product development process.
Highly organized, proactive, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Demonstrated sense of urgency with the ability to execute work accurately and efficiently.
Strong communication skills with clear, professional written and verbal follow-up.
Interest in sustainable materials and responsible product development.
