EMPLOYMENT STATUS:
Regular Full-time, Non-Exempt
SUMMARY:
Responsible for the general and fiscal leadership and management of the Margaret Harwell Art Museum.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Initiate and administer exhibition schedule and educational programs, completing all necessary administrative and promotional arrangements for exhibits, classes, workshops, etc.
Plan and implement community programs and public relations events.
Assist in security funds through contacts with businesses, organizations, individuals and promotional fundraising.
Oversee the development and administration of the department budget; approve forecast of funds needed for staffing, equipment, materials and supplies; approve expenditures and implement budgetary adjustments as appropriate.
Direct acquisition, inventory and preservation procedures for permanent art collection.
Oversee any other hired staff.
Oversee maintenance of all museum properties, including the building.
Responsible for writing grant applications and securing funds.
Act as a liaison with the Friends of the Margaret Harwell Art Museum.
Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Excellent communication and cultural skills.
Knowledge in the field of Art.
Community knowledge.
Basic office and computer skills.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, AND/OR TRAINING REQUIRED:
Bachelor’s degree in related field.
Experience in an art or education-related field.
Grant writing experience.
