Club Overview Located in Anne Arundel County, Maryland, Gibson Island is situated on the western shore of Chesapeake Bay between Baltimore and Annapolis. It is an enchanting, private island accessed by a man‑made causeway. Gibson Island Club opened in 1921. In 1924, the Charles Blair Macdonald/Seth J. Raynor design opened as an 18‑hole golf course. The club now is a nine‑hole facility with Bermuda tees, fairways, and roughs & bent grass putting greens. In recent years, the golf course has undergone significant improvements in conditioning, practices, and daily preparation. In the fall of 2021, Lester George rebuilt a Redan template par 3 to add to the golf experience of our Macdonald & Raynor course.
Position Summary Gibson Island Club is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic
Assistant Golf Professional
to join our golf operations team for the 2026 season. This is a
seasonal position , running from
May through early October , ideal for a motivated professional looking to provide exceptional service to members and guests in a high‑end private club environment.
The Assistant Golf Professional will play a key role in all aspects of daily golf operations, including instruction, tournament coordination, merchandising, and member services. This is a valuable opportunity to gain experience in a top‑tier private club setting while contributing to a culture of hospitality, professionalism, and excellence.

Qualifications
Minimum 2 years' experience in golf operations or a similar setting
PGA/LPGA membership or Apprentice status preferred
Strong knowledge of golf rules, instruction, and tournament operations
Desire to advance in the golf industry
Must be visible, easily approachable, and pro‑active in nature
Must have a valid Driver's License
Maryland Live Scan and Child Protective Services background check required
Proven ability to deliver excellent customer service
Experience managing golf events, leagues and member tournaments
Proficient with golf POS systems, Microsoft suite, Golf Genius, Northstar or similar
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Available to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays
Able to meet the physical demands and daily work environment; tolerate hot, cold, rainy or humid conditions. Frequent repetitive motions. Bending, climbing, lifting along with continuous standing and walking are all daily actions required of the position
Essential Responsibilities
Knowledge, experience and understanding of all typical golf course procedures
Assist with the management of the daily golf operations including tracking play, protecting and controlling assets and assisting with all merchandising functions
Experienced with opening and closing procedures for a typical golf shop
Familiar with all aspects and required steps of golf tournament set‑up, including the use of Golf Genius software, pre‑planning, designing, editing, printing, and practical usage of all tournament checkpoints and materials
Responsible for maintaining a clean, safe working environment, with emphasis on promoting employee health and safety
Significant focus on Women's Golf & our annual Junior Golf Academy programming
Knowledge and practical use of the USGA Handicapping system and the USGA Rules of Golf
Organized and proficient with time management, responsive to messages, emails and all other relevant golf and club communications
Assist in leadership of the outside golf operations, including hands‑on outdoor assistance as neededProvide golf instruction, play golf with members and keep current of all industry trends
Perform other golf operational duties as assigned by the Head Golf Professional
Benefits
Hourly Wage:
$25/hour based on experience (40-48 hours/week)
