Sr. Catering Sales Manager
is responsible for generating and maximizing catering revenue through the proactive solicitation of social, corporate, association, and local catering business. This role focuses on selling and servicing events hosted in the hotel’s meeting and event spaces, from initial inquiry through event execution, ensuring exceptional guest satisfaction and revenue optimization. This position plays a key role in achieving the hotel’s overall revenue goals by identifying new business opportunities, maintaining strong client relationships, and collaborating closely with Banquets, Culinary, and Operations teams to deliver seamless and memorable events. Key Responsibilities Proactively solicit new catering business through outside sales calls, networking, prospecting, and community engagement
Respond to inquiries, prepare proposals, negotiate contracts, and close catering business to maximize revenue and profitability
Manage social, corporate, association, and local catering accounts, ensuring repeat business and long-term partnerships
Conduct site tours and client meetings to showcase event space and hotel amenities
Develop and maintain strong relationships with local businesses, event planners, wedding coordinators, and community organizations
Coordinate all event details with clients and internal departments to ensure flawless execution
Accurately forecast catering revenues and maintain up-to-date records in the sales system
Monitor market trends and competitor activity to identify new revenue opportunities
Participate in weekly sales meetings and contribute to overall sales strategy
Ensure contracts, BEOs, and event documentation are accurate and completed in a timely manner
Perform any other job-related duties as assigned Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Hospitality, Marketing, or related field (preferred)
Minimum 4–6 years of catering or hotel sales experience, preferably in an upscale or boutique hotel environment
Proven track record of meeting or exceeding catering revenue goals
Strong negotiation and closing skills
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
Exceptional organizational and time-management abilities
Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple events simultaneously
Ability to work collaboratively with culinary, banquet, and operations teams
Proficiency in hotel sales systems and Microsoft Office
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Knowledge of the Washington, DC catering and events market preferred Compensation / Job Classification $75,000 – $80,000 annually
(depending on qualifications and experience)
