Job Description Primary Role The Employee Relations Specialist will act as the central point of contact for employee relation issues and concerns. He/she will be a subject‑matter expert, coaching and advising people managers on progressive discipline to ensure a consistent and aligned approach across the business. The specialist will partner with HRBPs and senior management to develop and execute HR strategies and programs that enhance employee job satisfaction, productivity and retention. He/she will gather detailed, pertinent information through fact‑finding interviews and investigations, interpret findings, prepare documentation for employment claims, and track disciplinary actions for corrective action, grievances, absence and performance management, and organizational changes. The specialist will work with client legal and compliance departments on complex issues, maintain a positive ER environment, and provide professional handling of cases. Insights on employee ER trends will be shared with HRBPs and senior management to diagnose issues effectively.
Responsibilities
Gather information
and prepare documentation associated with employee relations issues; work with people managers on progressive discipline documentation; conduct fact‑finding interviews and investigations; liaise with legal counsel and compliance as needed.
Provide expert advice
and coaching to management on conduct, performance, and grievance issues; keep HRBPs informed; participate in progressive discipline meetings to ensure clear messaging.
Interpret findings
and develop strategies to resolve issues; update HRBPs on case status and progress.
Contribute to best practice
education and policy development; offer counsel on HR policies, procedures, and practices.
Education & Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree required; HR qualification preferred.
Minimum of 5 years experience in HR/Employee Relations.
Experience in a diverse environment (exempt and non‑exempt workforce).
Thorough knowledge of Federal and California laws and application of HR principles and practices.
Familiarity with HR Shared Services, HRIS systems, processes, policies, SAP, MS Office.
