
Job Title: Marine Electrician
Pay: Up to $27.31/hr
Per diem: $140 per day
Location: Newport News, VA
Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Marine Electrician with experience in marine applications to join our team. You will be responsible for executing electrical tasks on Navy vessels such as aircraft carriers and submarines within a shipyard environment.
Responsibilities
Read and interpret shipboard electrical installation drawings, wiring tables, schematics, and work packages.
Work independently with proper instruction.
Utilize basic electrical meters and test instruments, including volt‑ohm meters, clamp‑on ammeters, and insulation resistance testers.
Perform general deck electrician tasks such as laying off and mounting electrical equipment and wireways, installing cable penetrations in equipment, bulkheads, and decks, cable installation, cable terminations, and cut‑in and hook‑up.
Use basic electrician hand tools such as pliers, wrenches, sockets, screwdrivers, and connector crimping tools.
Climb vertical and inclined stairs and ladders, crawl, bend, stoop, work at heights, and work in confined spaces.
Essential Skills
Three or more years of experience in the electrical field with a focus on marine applications.
Ability to read and interpret shipboard electrical installation drawings and schematics.
Proficiency in using basic electrical meters and test instruments.
Experience with general deck electrician tasks and hand tools.
Physical ability to perform duties in various environments and conditions.
Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Baton Rouge, LA.
Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $21.36 - $27.31/hr.
