About This Opportunity The US Export Compliance Manager is a strategic and operational role ensuring the company's export activities adhere to all applicable U.S. export control laws and regulations, including the Export Administration Regulations (EAR), the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), and Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) sanctions. This role involves developing, implementing, and managing the company's export compliance program to mitigate risks, maintain compliance, and support efficient, lawful international business operations within the technology sector.

What You Will Do

Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive export compliance policies, procedures, and internal controls in alignment with business objectives and U.S. government requirements.

Serve as a subject matter expert for export control classification, including determining Export Control Classification Numbers (ECCNs) and US Munitions List (USML) categories for the company's products, software, and technology, working closely with engineering and product development teams.

Prepare, submit, and manage export license applications, technical assistance agreements (TAAs), and other authorizations to relevant U.S. government agencies, including the Department of Commerce (BIS) and the Department of State (DDTC).

Oversee and manage restricted party screening and customer/end-user due diligence processes to ensure compliance with sanctions and embargoes.

Lead internal and support external export compliance assessments and audits, identify areas of non-compliance, and implement effective corrective actions.

Develop and deliver targeted export compliance training programs to internal stakeholders (Sales, Engineering, Logistics, Supply Chain) and provide expert guidance on export-related matters.

Stay current on changes in U.S. export control regulations and industry developments, communicating key updates and their impact to leadership and relevant teams.

Ensure export compliance records and documentation are maintained accurately and in accordance with U.S. government retention requirements.

What You Will Bring

Several years of experience focusing on U.S. export compliance and related matters, preferably within the technology, telecom or semiconductor industry.

Proficiency in classifying hardware, software, and technology under Category 5, Part 2 of the Commerce Control List (CCL), specifically for ECCNs 5A002, 5D002, 5A992, and 5D992.

Ability to interpret technical specifications—such as symmetric/asymmetric key lengths (exceeding 64 bits) and cryptographic protocols—to determine if a product is "strong encryption".

Knowledge of the "Cryptography Note" (Note 3) to identify products eligible for mass market treatment or exclusions for "ancillary cryptography".

Expert knowledge of the Export Administration Regulations (EAR), OFAC sanctions, anti-boycott regulations, and general knowledge of the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

Education: Bachelor's degree. Professional certification (Certified U.S. Export Compliance Officer (CUSECO)) is a plus.

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, capable of navigating complex compliance issues.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex regulatory matters into clear, actionable guidance for non-experts.

Proven ability to work effectively and collaboratively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders across different levels of the organization.

Experience with export compliance software and tools (SAP GTS, SNAP-R, OCR) and proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Compensation And Benefits The salary range for this position is $100,000 to $150,000 and depends on location, qualifications, and experience.
