We’re Hiring: Commercial Real Estate Controller
Full-Time Position
We are seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented
Commercial Real Estate Controller
to lead accounting and financial reporting across our investment portfolio and development/construction operations. This role is critical in ensuring accurate, timely financial reporting, overseeing construction accounting, and supporting strategic decision‑making.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee all accounting operations for investment and development/construction projects
Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting
Ensure accurate property‑level reporting, consolidations, and corporate financial statements
Supervise general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, cash management, and bank reconciliations
Oversee construction accounting including job cost tracking, draw schedules, lien waivers, retainage, and capitalization
Manage development budgets, forecasting, and variance analysis
Coordinate with asset management, development, and property management teams
Lead audits and tax return coordination with external auditors and advisors
Establish and maintain internal controls and accounting policies
Oversee lender reporting and compliance requirements
Mentor and manage accounting staff
Implement and optimize accounting systems and processes
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance ( CPA a plus )
6+ years of progressive CRE accounting experience
Experience overseeing both stabilized portfolios and development/construction accounting
Strong knowledge of GAAP and real estate accounting standards
Experience managing audits and lender reporting
Proficiency in real estate accounting systems ( Yardi 7 strongly preferred ); Foundation Construction experience a plus
Advanced Excel skills
Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast‑paced environment
Compensation & Benefits:
Salary:
$90,000 – $120,000 per year
(based on experience)
