Our Client is seeking to fill the role of
Corrugated Packaging Designer
located in
Baltimore, Maryland . This is a
full-time, onsite position
within the packaging and containers manufacturing industry. This role is responsible for creating, developing, and refining structural corrugated packaging designs that meet customer specifications, manufacturing capabilities, and industry standards. The Designer partners closely with sales, production, tooling vendors, and customer service to deliver accurate layouts, samples, and manufacturing specifications.
Compensation:
$61,000-$75,000/year

Key Responsibilities Design & Drafting
Design corrugated packaging including RSC, FOL, die cuts, displays, and inserts
Create 2D structural drawings using ArtiosCAD, AutoCAD, or equivalent CAD software
Modify existing designs to improve performance, manufacturability, and cost efficiency
Develop samples and prototypes for customer approval
Coordinate artwork and printing plate requirements with tooling vendors and graphic designers
Material & Specification Expertise
Apply knowledge of corrugated materials (ECT, Mullen grades, fluting, board combinations)
Determine appropriate board grade based on stacking strength, shipping, and product protection requirements
Prepare detailed manufacturing specifications for production
Production & Tooling Support
Ensure designs are compatible with in-house equipment (flexo folder gluers, die cutters, gluers)
Assist with troubleshooting fit or production issues
Manage tooling inventory including tracking, purging, repair coordination, and inspection
Estimate tooling costs by quantifying rule per cutting die during quoting phase
Customer & Sales Collaboration
Translate customer requirements into practical, cost-effective packaging solutions
Support sales during customer visits, presentations, and technical reviews
Utilize TOPS program to provide requested customer performance data
Documentation & Quality
Maintain organized design records, revisions, and specifications
Ensure compliance with internal, customer, and industry quality standards
Follow revision control and change management procedures
Requirements Experience
Associate degree in Packaging, Engineering, Industrial Design, CAD Drafting, or related field
Equivalent hands‑on industry experience may be considered
Minimum 2+ years of experience in corrugated packaging or related manufacturing environment
Direct experience designing corrugated packaging (RSC, FOL, die cuts, displays, inserts)
Experience developing structural layouts and production‑ready specifications
Proficiency with ArtiosCAD, AutoCAD, or equivalent CAD software
Strong knowledge of corrugated materials, flute profiles, board grades, stacking strength, and packaging performance
Ability to read and create technical drawings and manufacturing blueprints
Strong math aptitude and spatial reasoning skills
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with digital cutting tables (e.g., Kongsberg)
Knowledge of flexographic printing processes
Familiarity with TOPS or packaging performance standards
Graphic design experience (Adobe Illustrator)
