Communications Specialist, Institute for Global Sustainability
Position located in Boston, MA. Full-Time/Regular. Salary range: $53,200.00-$70,000.00.
The Boston University (BU) Institute for Global Sustainability (IGS) is a university-wide center that builds research initiatives to advance a sustainable and equitable future. Our focus areas are planetary and environmental health, climate governance, and energy systems, and our cross-cutting approaches are equity and justice, robust data science, and real-world impact.
Responsibilities
Coordinate internal and external communications strategies and event production in collaboration with the IGS communications team.
Contribute to the development and execution of outreach strategies for IGS research with key audiences, including BU faculty, students, staff, community organizations, media, policymakers, and industry.
Contribute to policy briefs, reports, and multimedia offerings.
Develop and promote content for IGS events, coordinating with partners, creating promotional content, and managing event logistics.
Manage social media accounts, day‑to‑day content strategy and creation, interpreting faculty research and coverage of institute events.
Manage website content and regular updates supporting research and events.
Recruit and manage student communications assistants.
Maintain internal communications mechanisms, including updates to IGS email lists, calendars, and databases.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree with 2 years of related work experience.
