Responsible for planning and directing goods and services to support production for cost effectiveness, quality consistency, and efficiency and adequacy of the supply chain. Demonstrated capability and experience with a variety of the field's concepts, best practices, and optimal procedures. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
Leads and directs the work of others. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Responsible to manage directly key commodities and or suppliers.**Essential Job Functions:*** Develop and maintain a high-performance culture, resulting in continued success that allows team members to meet measurable goals as well as improve customer service to both internal and external customers.* Create an environment within the supply base, which delivers the best Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) in a global marketplace.
Build and maintain strong business relationships with suppliers.* Lead global alignment and coordination for commodity strategy development of key commodities on a global basis.* Recruit and develop talent to ensure success of all within the team, placing emphasis on individual growth and expansion of professional skills.* Translate the purchasing strategy into an operational reality through alignment with cross-functional departments and company objectives.* Support forward thinking R&D activities of the business and engage buyers and suppliers as appropriate* Leading reviews of supplier contracts as well as full management (signing authority) with key/critical suppliers.* Support the development and implement department procedures to streamline purchasing activities by recommending and implementing changes to improve productivity, reduce cost and waste.* Manage and resolve supplier disputes with respect to commercial issues to mitigate the potential exposure of negative cost impact.* Monitor key market conditions and supplier concerns, making executive management aware where activities could affect pricing and or delivery.* Create and manage the department’s regional indirect material budget, key metrics, and operational performance goals.
