Description
Substation Designer – P&C at Westwood Professional Services, Inc. Westwood is seeking a collaborative, detail oriented Substation Designer (CAD Technician) to join a growing energy consulting firm. The Substation Designer would work with our Substation Engineering Team to prepare schematic and associated wiring diagrams for high voltage utility substations projects and renewable energy interconnections. The position requires collaborating with engineers and consultants to create drawings. Westwood has a highly experienced and dynamic team dedicated to providing high-level professional services to our clients.
Responsibilities
Computer aided design and drafting of all engineering products and deliverables.
Collaborate with engineers and other drafters to correct discrepancies in drawings and designs.
Prepare functional electrical drawings including typical CAD design such as Operations Diagrams, Single Line Drawings, Three Line Drawings, Current and Potential Schematics, Protection and Control Schematics, Communication Schematics, Alarm Schematics, and Associated Wiring Diagrams (Point to Point Translation).
Importation of tables and calculations such as BOMs and creating notes for each drawing.
Perform self-checks to ensure accuracy prior to review by supervisor or designee.
Understand and meet project schedule and quality requirements.
Complete drawings accurately and efficiently with detailed, quality-oriented output.
Manage multiple projects concurrently and adapt to changing work assignments.
Assist in project delivery, including phone/email correspondence, Microsoft Teams communications, attending meetings, and other project documentation required for completion.
Provide interdepartmental support as required.
Qualifications
Associate degree in Design & Drafting Technology or related field.
Minimum of 3 years CAD experience; AutoCAD experience preferred.
Previous experience drafting schematic and associated wiring drawings for high voltage utility substations projects required.
