Summary Position located in Community Recreation Division, Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) Department, within Commander, Navy Installations Command (CNIC). Manages and administers comprehensive year‑round recreation program and various facilities. Plans, promotes, and implements a variety of MWR or Community Recreation programs and activities in support of MWR programs and base‑wide special events.

Duties

Responsible for operation of the assigned Internet/Recreation center and single sailor recreation programs, which may include the Liberty program, theater, food and beverage services, etc.

Develops and administers programs serving the needs of a diverse customer base, ensuring services and programs support target patron areas.

Oversees programs, tournaments, and special events; evaluates and develops goals and objectives; recommends changes to current programs or establishes new ones.

Ensures services, programs and facilities are efficiently scheduled, properly staffed and meet the needs of the service population.

Kept chain of command properly advised at all times.

Ensures all equipment, services and furniture are properly maintained, repaired and/or replaced as needed; continually inspects facilities.

Ensures all trouble calls are made promptly, repairs or maintenance performed and timely follow‑up accomplished.

Maintains records and files in both print and electronic formats; responsible for all management correspondence and generates reports as required by command and/or higher authority.

Maintains up‑to‑date library of reference and resource materials; disposes of obsolete, outdated or superseded files, records and directives.

Develops and maintains program‑related database.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Conditions of Employment

Must pass all applicable records and background check.

Must have a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications Resumes must include information which demonstrates experience and knowledge, skills, and ability (KSAs) as they relate to this position. Applicants are encouraged to be clear and specific when describing their experience level and KSAs.

Knowledge of principles, techniques and procedures used in organizing, planning, administering and conducting a wide variety of recreation activities.

Knowledge of scope of recreational activities and suitability for individuals, groups, ages and interests.

Knowledge of current trends in recreation.

Knowledge of marketing and promotion techniques that motivate and encourage program participation.

Knowledge of CNIC’s EEO policy and procedures.

Skill in using Microsoft Office Programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Ability to develop and effectively deliver presentations and/or training.

Ability to influence others in obtaining cooperation and assistance.

Ability to perform the full range of supervisory duties.

Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Education This position does not have a positive education requirement.

Additional Information Salary is dependent on experience and/or education. Executive Order 12564 requires a Federal workplace free of illegal drugs.
