This is an opportunity to support public safety as an assistant to Probation & Parole Officer 1, 2, 3 and P&P Specialist. It may be utilized in all 21 district offices of the Division of Probation and Parole.

Qualifications:
• Three years of law enforcement, investigatory, or gaming regulation experience, OR
• Six years of full‑time work experience in any field, OR
• A bachelor's degree.
Experience Substitution:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full‑time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution is 120 semester hours (four years).
Necessary Special Requirements:
An applicant who has been convicted of a felony or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified until relief is granted. Official specifications can be found here.
Job Duties
Requests, receives, compiles, and disseminates criminal intelligence data.
Completes routine field requests and develops research, analytical, and system retrieval skills.
Assists an Investigative Specialist 2 or 3 in complex criminal investigations.
Performs background investigations of all applicants seeking approval by the Office of State Police, Gaming Enforcement Section and the Louisiana Gaming Control Board, including gaming entities, employees, vendors, and suppliers.
Inspects gaming operations and investigates violations of statutes and administrative rules.
Reviews and analyzes contractual agreements and other legal documents involving applicants, approved persons, or entities, including gaming internal control documents and management agreements.
Conducts audits of licensee gaming operators, employees, and vendor records.
Position-Specific Details Appointment Type:
PROBATION, or PROMOTION OF A PERMANENT, CLASSIFIED LOUISIANA STATE EMPLOYEE.
Current permanent status classified LA State employees may be required to accept a probational appointment if selected.
An employee selected for a promotion may be required to serve a trial detail before permanent promotion.
This posting may fill a vacancy as a temporary job appointment; if so, a permanent position may convert to a probational appointment.
Other Important Information
Any degree, certificate, special license, or DD-214 must be verified by official documentation prior to hire.
Any qualifying experience based on college credits must have an accompanying transcript for verification.
This is a 24‑hour facility.
