About the Role We are seeking an experienced Director of Accounting Operations to own accounting operations and architect scalable financial workflows within a rapidly scaling, complex manufacturing environment. This role designs data-driven performance frameworks and drives automation across accounts payable, payroll, cash application, and procurement-to-AP processes. Partnering cross-functionally, the Director of Accounting Operations brings structure, visibility, and continuous improvement to accounting operations while leading the accounts payable and payroll teams.

Responsibilities

Own and optimize day-to-day financial operations across accounts payable and payroll

Build and monitor KPI frameworks, such as cycle times, resolution rates, escalation paths and SLAs. Translate data into clear priorities, insights, and action plans.

Identify bottlenecks and systemic issues using case and performance data.

Partner closely with HR, Procurement, Operations, Legal, and FP&A to align and standardize systems, policies, and workflows; drive continuous improvement through automation, process redesign, and system enhancements.

Oversee payroll operations for a large, multi-state workforce, including hourly manufacturing employees and salaried staff

Lead accounts payable operations across domestic and international vendors, including high-volume invoice processing and complex payment structures

Manage and develop team leaders and individual contributors across payroll and AP, fostering accountability, growth, and high performance

Own month‑end close activities related to payroll and AP, including accruals, reconciliations, journal entries, and reporting

Support external audits, internal reviews, and regulatory inquiries

Play a key role in integrating new entities, facilities, and jurisdictions as the company grows

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

10+ years of progressive accounting operations experience, including leadership of Payroll and Accounts Payable functions

Experience in manufacturing, defense, aerospace, or other highly regulated industries

Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, internal controls, and accounting operations best practices

Experience managing high-volume AP environments and complex vendor relationships in an international organization

Proven ability to scale teams and processes in fast‑growing organizations

Strong leadership, communication, and cross‑functional collaboration skills

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with international operations and multi‑currency environments

Experience implementing or optimizing ERP, payroll, or AP automation systems
